Paris, December 2, 2020

Mersen, a global expert in electrical power and advanced materials, has announced the signing of an order worth close to €2 million with Siemens Energy. The order has been placed in connection with the Attica-Crete project, which aims to strengthen power capacity on the Greek island of Crete using HVDC  technology and foster the integration of renewable energy.

Mersen will provide 12,000 cooling devices to protect the integrated power modules in the Siemens Energy HVDC technology converter stations that will form the interconnector between the power grids in Mainland Greece and on the island of Crete.

Custom-designed in collaboration with Siemens Energy engineers, the Mersen cooling devices have been selected to meet the mission-critical reliability standards required of this type of high-tech equipment, which is used in particularly demanding environments and conditions. Their superior quality is achieved thanks to the Mersen Group's unique vacuum brazing technology.

This latest success stems from the relationship of trust developed with Siemens Energy’s teams over many years thanks to the recognized quality of Mersen’s cooling devices, which are manufactured in La Mure in France’s Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

Delivery is scheduled for 2021-2022.
